We can’t wait to meet you!

We know that showing up to a new place for the first time can be intimidating, but it’s our desire to help you feel right at home.

Please remember to check our calendar before visiting. There are some weeks when our worship activities take place elsewhere.

What can I expect?

Our Saturday services typically start with age-specific classes at 10 am, followed by a main worship service for all ages at 11:15 am, and we wrap things up with a potluck lunch around 12:30 pm.

If you’re feeling a bit unsure about visiting for the first time, we recommend starting with the 11:15 am service. When you arrive, feel free to grab a complimentary hot or cold drink from the foyer and then head into the main auditorium through the double doors.

During the service, you’ll experience a simple, relaxed time with 3-4 praise songs (lyrics are shown on the screen) and a message of encouragement from the Bible, delivered by one of our pastors or a guest speaker.

NOTE: Who doesn’t like a little variety? Several services in our schedule are quite different from what’s described above. You’ll find our calendar here, and a description of our various service styles here.

What should I wear?

At The Avenue Church, there is no dress code. Some people show up in suits or dresses, and others wear t-shirts and jeans. We want you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Where do I park?

Street parking is available in front of our church. There are also half a dozen spots available behind our church—accessible through the alley—which we like to keep available for guests like you as well as regular attendees who have physical limitations.

(For our regular able-bodied attendees, we have a parking arrangement with a lot one block north of our church, at 525 Avenue I S.)

Is there anything for my kids?

We aim to gear our services for children and adults alike. The care and growth of every child is a high priority. Our 10 am Bible classes offer interactive educational experiences for all ages, and our main worship service offers space for our youngest attendees to play. Older children may enjoy the service best with the provided colouring and drawing materials.

Is your facility accessible?

Yes! Our entrance is level to the sidewalk and street, and our main auditorium is on the same level. Our dining hall is a short flight of stairs up, but an accessibility lift is available to ascend and descend from this level. An accessible washroom is also available from the dining hall. (Two of our 10 am Bible study classes are not accessible at this time; our Adult Portuguese class, and our Teen class.)

How do the potluck meals work?

We love getting to know each other better by visiting over a tasty meal. Our potlucks are themed with pre-set menus. Our regular attendees who plan to stay for the meal sign up the week prior, indicating items they will contribute using our online potluck sign up.

As our guest, we don’t expect you to bring anything—please just stay and enjoy the fellowship!

Have a food allergy or special dietary needs? Many of our members are vegetarian, some are celiac, and most avoid shellfish and pork products. We do our best to label items but if you have any questions about ingredients in dishes, just ask!
